In Your Bin July 2nd: Peas in the Pod!
Sending along a link that is a great refresher in all things garden peas! In your bin this week you will be receiving either snow peas or sugar snap peas.
Both have edible pods. Snow peas are long and slender. Sugar snap peas snap with a crispness with peas in the pod a little more developed. Yet, these are not to be confused with standard garden peas or “shelling peas” which need to be cracked open and the peas removed for cooking.
This year we are trying are hand at shelling peas and you may be seeing them in your bin later this season – depending on how we succeed!
We had the snow peas last Friday, cut fresh in 4s and tossed in the salad – delicious and a great change from our standard stir fry go to.
This link lists all the nutritional benefits of these veg but remember not to overcook or all is lost: What’s the Difference Between Green Peas, Snow Peas, and Sugar Snap Peas?
