In Your Bin August 5th: Pressing Pause!
Today marks week nine of the Summer CSA. It is always about this time that we press pause and take a week off the Delivery CSAs to catch up with weeding, more planting for the fall, trellising tomatoes etc. So there will be no delivery Tuesday August 12th. We hear that it also helps customers catch up with food in the fridge!
Happy to be sending along Corn and Chinese Celery today for something new in your CSA. Corn you will recognize but maybe Chinese Celery is new to you.
To quote a Google reference:
“Chinese celery, also known as leaf celery, has thinner, hollow stalks, a stronger, more pungent flavor, and is used both for its stalks and leaves, while Western celery, or Pascal celery, has thicker stalks, a milder flavor, and is often used primarily for its stalks”.
Also in your bin, some fruit from Niagara. We have been asked to carry Ontario fruit, as organic as possible, at our Uxbridge and Village markets. We buy from Palatine Fruit & Roses and have some to share with our CSA. There is sampling of plums and apricots we hope you enjoy!
