Ban the Use of Neonicotinoid Pesticides – An Update!
Last October we posted news about the issue of neonicotinoid pesticides. We have further news that not only bees but birds as well are at significant risk.
On our farm we have hives that belong to a local beekeeper. While his bees are safe on our land the radius around a farm must be two miles in order that bees be protected. Our farm is bordered by conventional farms and this puts even his bees at risk. Talk to any beekeeper here in Ontario and they will tell you about the devastating loss of hives that is happening right here in our province. Talk to the Dutch scientists behind the articles we have noted here and they will say our birds may be next.
